search function on this forum is too strict

I'm new here, trying to get as much info as possible before posting questions, assuming these questions has been asked frequently. But the search function here is too limiting. It won't allow you to search 3 letter words or common words. So "LCD' "vat", etc isn't searchable. I was looking into "top-down" or "bottom-up" info, but "top" or "up" is too short, and "down" is too common. Not sure who the owner or admins are, but if the search rules can be removed, please! I'd rather see too many meaningless results to filter through manually than no results.
